This station has 2 main entrances! The biggest one is via Accenture Tower (formerly 500 West Madison (formerly Citigroup Center (formerly Citicorp Tower (formerly Northwestern Atrium Center)))), which replaced the old headhouse for the station. It also has a departure board somewhat like an airport I think. I've never been to an airport
This station has had many names over the years, first known as "North Western Station."After it passed to Metra it was named many things over a short period of time, including the very descriptive "Chicago Passenger Terminal".It was eventually named Ogilvie Transportation Center after Richard B. Ogilvie in 1997.
The station itself has 16 tracks and a big cavernous room. And a designated waiting room for Metra passengers, even though only Metra trains stop here.
A system map is posted near the main entrance to the station featuring this amazing way to add Peterson/Ridge.
Since OTC handles the UP lines it is rife with various UP signs.
The front of the station has pretty good views of the Lake Street L as well as UP train movements! Also METX 13 who has recently received a proper paint job.
The other entrance to this station between Randolph and Lake is now branded as the "Metramarket". It's the only entrance remaining built by the Chicago & North Western Railway - and you can tell!
The entrances to tracks have this very pretty masonry surrounding them. There are also charging tables here.
Three difficult-to-find pieces of Metra rolling stock and equipment. I chased a Pullman gallery car like that for four months!
Thank you for riding Metra today!
